The summer enrichment program focuses on the skills and subjects critical to students at each grade level. Lower School students (grades 1 through 5) will benefit from small group instruction in Reading and Writing, multisensory Math computation and fluency, and the arts-based study of subjects such as History, Science, and World Cultures. Students in the Middle School (grades 6 through 8) and Upper School (grades 9 through 12) will focus on individualized reading and writing instruction, the development of math skills, specialized instruction in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Design, and Math) and instruction in the use of assistive technologies for note-taking, study skill development, and time management. College Preparatory work will also be offered to rising 11th and 12th graders with concentration on ACT Math and Verbal, and an essay writing boot camp. Ashford Farm Riding day camp
The riding day camp at Ashford Farm is for children ages 8 to 14 who are interested in spending their summer with horses in an atmosphere designed for safety and fun. In addition to daily riding and horse care instruction, camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming and outdoor games. Special events include a camp picnic, field trips, a sleepover, a camp horse show and Parents Day. Enrollment is limited to 40. Beginner, intermediate and advanced groups are formed according to riding ability. The farm has an art building, two barns, three outdoor rings and a cross-country course. Bach to Rock
B2R's unique approach means students with NO previous musical training can be rocking out or singing in a group at camp. Rock Band and Glee Club are coordinated by age (7 or older), grade and musical interests & ability.
For younger kids, we offer a Rock City World Tour (4 - 6) that introduces diverse instruments like the African Hand-Drums and Australian Didgeridoos for kids to explore. Young kids will love spending time in this global musical vacation.
There's also a Recording Arts camp (10 or older) where students can work ‘hands on' in a small class on Pro Tools and our Studio Live digital mixer to learn studio recording.

Bala Cynwyd School for Young Children
Our outstanding program of summer fun, outdoors and in well-equipped air-conditioned classrooms, provides children with a multitude of experiences that enrich learning and keep them busy and happy. Certified Teachers provide mature guidance and developmentally appropriate activities that are theme based. Everyday classroom learning center activities include music and movement, art and messy activities, science and nature experiences, and chances to explore number and math concepts. The on-site pool, designed specifically to teach young children to swim, provides hours of refreshing play and learning with friends, as well as small group swimming lessons by two certified swimming instructors.
Fun Fridays include: Carnival Day with a Moonbounce and Carnival treats; Western Day with pony rides; Music Fest with a special performance by a local children's band; Olympic Day when everyone takes home a medal; Camping Week/Pajama Day with pancakes for morning snack and camp stories in an outdoor tent; etc. The spacious playground provides lots of time for outdoor free-play and opportunities to swing, climb, slide, clatter on the bridge, slide down a fire pole, run, jump, build, explore sand and water, and to hone physical skills and facilitate priceless social interactions. The outdoor playground also includes two basketball hoops, a soccer net, and a volleyball net for instructed game play, along with space for regular bike races on tricycles and two-wheelers. Additionally, our Gym Teacher conducts weekly lessons on developing gross and fine motor skills using movement concepts that allow children to enjoy exercise in a non-competitive setting. Older children will go on field trips within the community, as well as a few special jaunts, such as the Camden Adventure Aquarium.

Summer Exploration Camp

Ages: 3-11 years (Special Adventure Camps for ages 10-14)
Campers at Riverbend have been enjoying the great outdoors on our 30 acre nature preserve for over 30 years. Kids from ages 3-11 spend their days here at Riverbend exploring our stream, meadow, forest and ponds in search of animals, plants, and bugs. Led by professional educators, in small intimate groups with low camper to educator ratios, natural curiosities are fostered as they investigate the world around them through hands on activities, live animals, crafts, songs and games. Each week from June 9th to August 29th focuses on a different nature theme; from “Where the Wild Things Roam” to “Buggin' Out” to “Ooey Gooey Science”. Riverbend also offers special camps, such as our new Tadpole program for 3 year olds, “Wilderness Survival” for ages 7-11 and “Adventure Excursions” for ages 10-14.

A balanced program of arts and athletics. Campers spend part of their day participating in soccer, floor hockey, kickball, and other games in a non-competitive environment, and the other portion of their day doing ceramics, drama, arts and crafts, and sewing. Campers also enjoy swimming and Xploration, a science activity that includes experiments, problem solving, stream exploration, and scavenger hunts. Twice a week the campers may choose activities for the afternoon based on their individual interests. Campers are kept active and engaged at a pace that allows them to enjoy the simple pleasures of their summer camp experience. All materials for our programs are provided by the camp.
